Coastal
Planning and Navigation
This will give
you the skills to plan day and multi day coastal based trips;
looking at charts and maps, compass work, buoys and lights,
tides and currents, and timings. It will include a short practical
session focusing on deck top navigation. This course satisfies
the prerequisites for navigation training of the 4* assessment.
We will look briefly at GPS and VHF radio as a source of gaining
information. |

Open
Water Planning and Navigation
This course
builds on the fundamental skills of the first course, and
takes them to a new level. You will gain the skills to plan
and conduct multi-day offshore expeditions in any part of
the world. We will look at GPS, VHF and FM radios for gaining
relevant information that can assist us. It includes an optional
night navigation exercise. This course is a prerequisite for
the 5* assessment. |

The content
of this time is dictated by you, it may be that you have done
a course and wish to gain further experience under the guidance
of someone else, you may wish to cover the course at a different
pace or you maybe planning an expedition and would like expert
